Adhilah, Natasya Shafa. 2025. “The Influence of Special Terminal Development on
the Revenue Increase of Pilotage and Towage Services at PT. Langlang Laju Layang
Palembang.”
This research was motivated by the strategic role of maritime logistics in Indonesia as
an archipelagic country, where the development of Special Terminals (Terminal
Khusus) plays a crucial role in improving port performance. In June 2022, a significant
operational disruption occurred when the connecting bridge at the Tanjung Tapa
Special Terminal collapsed. This incident affected pilotage and towage services and led
to a noticeable decline in company revenue, emphasizing the importance of reliable
infrastructure.
The study employs a quantitative approach with primary data collected via
questionnaires distributed to 30 employees of PT. Langlang Laju Layang Palembang
using saturated sampling. Secondary data includes operational and financial reports
before and after the infrastructure disruption. The analytical methods used involve
descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, correlation coefficient analysis,
coefficient of determination (R²), and simple linear regression.
The findings indicate a strong and positive correlation between Special Terminal
development and the increase in revenue from pilotage and towage services. The
regression analysis showed that the development significantly influences service
performance and company income, supporting the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho).
Improved infrastructure led to higher efficiency, safety, and ship visit frequency, which
directly contributed to increased revenue.
It is concluded that the Special Terminal development significantly boosts pilotage and
towage service revenue. The study suggests that PT. Langlang Laju Layang should
prioritize continuous investment in terminal infrastructure to ensure operational
resilience and capitalize on economic opportunities driven by increasing maritime
traffic.
