Analysis Pada MT. GAS ALYSSA”
Optimal fuel supply is a crucial factor in maintaining the operational efficiency of a
vessel. Based on the results of the Fuel Oil (FO) Analysis on MT. GAS ALYSSA, it was
found that the fuel quality did not fully comply with ISO 8217 standards, such as viscosity
exceeding the recommended limit and cat fine content approaching the threshold. These
conditions may cause engine operational disturbances, increase the risk of component
wear, and reduce combustion efficiency. This problem requires a well-measured fuel
management strategy in accordance with laboratory analysis results.
This study aims to identify the factors causing suboptimal fuel quality, formulate
improvement measures based on FO Analysis results, and optimize the fuel supply
procedure to support the ship’s engine performance. The research method used is
qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through direct observation
onboard, interviews with engine officers, and a review of FO Analysis documents. The
collected data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing
techniques according to Miles & Huberman’s model.
The results of this study are expected to provide effective technical and operational
recommendations to minimize the risk of engine damage caused by low-quality fuel and
to improve fuel usage efficiency on MT. GAS ALYSSA sustainably.
