embarkation process of passengers on board the KM Sabuk Nusantara 92”
This study aims to analyze the security system during the embarkation process of
passengers on board the KM Sabuk Nusantara 92. The background of this research
arises from the ineffective implementation of embarkation procedures and the weak
security system for passengers’ belongings, which often causes discomfort and
increases the risk of theft. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, with data
obtained through direct observation, literature study, and the author’s personal
experience while serving as Third Officer on board KM Sabuk Nusantara 92 from
January to May 2024.
The results indicate that the main factors causing the inefficiency of embarkation and
poor security include the lack of crew understanding of standard procedures, poor
coordination between ship and port authorities, and limited implementation of the ISPS
Code on board. In addition, the shortage of supporting security equipment, such as
CCTV and security personnel, further contributes to the problem.
The proposed solutions include improving crew familiarization and training regarding
embarkation procedures, enhancing coordination between ship and port authorities, and
implementing an integrated security system by adding supporting equipment such as
CCTV on each passenger deck. The implementation of these measures is expected to
improve the effectiveness of the ship’s security system and enhance passenger safety
and comfort on board KM Sabuk Nusantara 92.
