Cargo Oil Pump is one of the vital tools in loading and unloading activities on tankers. The efficiency of the cargo oil pump greatly affects the smooth process of transferring liquids from the ship's tank to facilities on land. However, during the implementation of sea practice on the MT. Griya Enim ship, technical problems were found in the form of leaks in the mechanical seal and damage to the bearings that hampered loading and unloading activities. This study aims to identify the main causes of the damage and find the right preventive solutions so that the loading and unloading process can take place properly. The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation and documentation, during sea practice. The research findings indicate that leaks in the mechanical seal are caused by lack of lubrication and vibrations that arise from bearing damage, while bearing damage itself is mostly caused by ineffective lubrication and lack of temperature monitoring when the pump is operating. From this study, it can be concluded that routine maintenance and periodic monitoring of the cargo oil pump are very important, especially for the bearing and mechanical seal components. The recommendations given include the implementation of proper lubrication, replacement of components before their service life ends, and monitoring the temperature and sound of the pump when operating. Thus, it is expected that the performance of the cargo oil pump remains optimal and the loading and unloading process runs smoothly.
