Herwibowo, Regita Febriani. 2025. “Identification of Spare Parts Inventory
Discrepancies to Improve Accuracy and Efficiency of Spare Parts Availability
Management on LNG Ship Ekaputra 1"
This study aims to identify discrepancies in the spare parts inventory system on the LNG
Ship Ekaputra 1, primarily caused by difficulties faced by the Inventory Control Officer
(ICO) and stock opname team in efficiently tracking and verifying spare parts. The
background of this research lies in the critical need for accurate inventory management
to support ship operations, as data inconsistencies can disrupt maintenance and increase
financial risks. The analysis offers original value by employing a qualitative fishbone
method to map root causes, such as lack of training, absence of SOPs, and mixing of newused spare parts. The objectives were to examine the causes and impacts of inventory
discrepancies and evaluate solutions like implementing ERP Odoo, standardizing
labeling, and conducting regular reconciliations. Findings revealed that human factors
(man), methods (method), and environment (environment) were the main causes, leading
to over-procurement and operational disruptions. The study concludes that integrated
technological solutions and workforce capacity building are essential to enhance
inventory accuracy. This research provides practical insights for the maritime industry to
optimize spare parts management |
