Indah, Reni Sri. 2025. “Impact of Ship Trading Area Changes on the Duration of Docking Activities at PT Gemilang Bina Lintas Tirta” This study investigates the impact of changes in ship trading areas on the duration of docking activities at PT Gemilang Bina Lintas Tirta. Shifts in operational waters—from calm seas to more extreme environments or vice versa—directly affect the physical condition of vessels. Exposure to varying maritime conditions can accelerate the wear and tear of key components such as the hull, propeller, piping systems, and engine, thereby increasing maintenance and inspection needs during docking. The research applies a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews with management, docking supervisors, and field technicians, as well as direct observation and analysis of company technical documents. A fishbone diagram was used to identify the contributing factors behind increased docking duration. Findings show that changes in trading areas contribute to longer docking times due to the need for additional inspections, earlier component replacements, and adjustments in working methods. Human factors, such as inadequate training for the new operating environment, and managerial factors, such as inflexible docking planning, also play a role in the delays. This study recommends updating work procedures, enhancing technician training, and developing a wear prediction system based on trading areas to support more efficient docking planning.
