Jatmiko, Ardian Reviera. 2025. “The Effect of Fairway Survey Implementation at Port Entry Channels on Navigation Safety within the Directorate of Navigation Environment” As an archipelagic country with thousands of islands, Indonesia faces serious challenges in ensuring maritime safety. One of the strategic efforts to support safe navigation is the implementation of fairway surveys at port entry channels, aimed at ensuring that shipping lanes are free from hazards and comply with international safety standards. This study was initiated due to the critical role of accurate hydrographic data in supporting safe navigation, as well as the observed limitations in human resources, reliability of survey equipment, and data accuracy in the field. The main research question is to determine the extent to which the implementation of fairway surveys affects navigation safety. The study employed a quantitative descriptive approach using a Likert-scale questionnaire, distributed to 30 personnel of the Directorate of Navigation as respondents. The results indicate that the implementation of fairway surveys—consisting of competent human resources, reliable survey equipment, and accurate data—has a significant influence on navigation safety. This is evidenced by the simple linear regression analysis which shows a coefficient of determination of 71,8%, meaning that the fairway survey implementation contributes 71,8% to the improvement of navigation safety, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other external factors. The study concludes that improving fairway survey quality is essential and can be achieved through enhancing the competence of survey personnel, maintaining and procuring proper survey equipment, and ensuring consistent and accurate data collection. The Directorate of Navigation is advised to strengthen its planning and budgeting efforts to ensure national maritime safety.
