Haikal, Rifki. 2025. “Analysis of Procedures and Passenger Flow Maps to Support the
Smooth Embarkation and Debarkation Process on KM. Gunung Dempo”
This study aims to analyze the procedures and flow maps of passenger embarkation
and debarkation to support the smooth operation of these processes on KM. Gunung
Dempo, a passenger vessel owned by PT. Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero). The
background of the study is based on the author's direct experience during sea practice,
where several issues were identified, such as disorganized passenger movement, the
absence of route maps, lack of officers at designated posts, and limited information
provided to passengers during boarding and disembarkation.
This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through
field observations, documentation, and literature review. The focus is to assess how well
the implemented procedures align with standard regulations and to evaluate the role of
visual tools, such as flow maps, in improving the effectiveness of embarkation and
debarkation. The findings indicate weaknesses in the implementation, including
inadequate crew understanding, absence of visual guidance, and insufficient planning.
As a solution, the study recommends regular training for crew members through
safety meetings, the use of digital information channels such as social media, and the
development of clear passenger flow maps to be placed in strategic locations. These
improvements are expected to enhance the orderliness, efficiency, and overall comfort of
embarkation and debarkation processes on KM. Gunung Dempo.
