dc.description.abstract Syaelindra, Rey. 2025. "Analysis of the Cause of the Increase in the Cooling Temperature of the Main Engine on the MT. Prima XP" This study aims to identify the cause of the increase in the cooling temperature of the main engine in the MT ship. Prima XP. The cooling system on the main engine is a vital component in maintaining optimal operating temperatures to support engine performance during shipping. Based on the author's sea practical experience, it was found that a disturbance in the cooling system was characterized by an increase in the temperature of the freshwater cooler from 80°C to 86°C, thus triggering the alarm and slowing down of the main engine. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study and problem solving approach, as well as data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the main cause of the increase in cooling temperature is the dirty seawater filter in the sea chest and the occurrence of corrosion in the cooling plate of the central cooler. Both conditions inhibit heat exchange efficiency, causing the cooling system to not work optimally. Efforts to solve problems are carried out through routine maintenance, cleaning, and periodic monitoring of cooling parameters. This research makes a practical contribution in improving technical understanding and becomes a reference for engine officers in maintaining the reliability of the ship's cooling system. en_US
