Abstract:
Syintia Sari, Cut. 2025. “Optimizing Domestic Ship Charter Strategy to Enhance
Company Performance at PT Hutama Trans Kencana”
This study investigates the optimization of domestic vessel chartering strategies and its
impact on company performance at PT Hutama Trans Kencana, a subsidiary of PT
Humpuss Maritim International specializing in oil and chemical tanker transportation.
The analysis was initiated to address operational inefficiencies, underutilization of vessel
fleet assets, and increasing demand for efficient cargo in the Indonesian maritime sector.
Unlike previous studies that focused primarily on financial metrics, this study integrates
operational, technological, and human resource dimensions to holistically assess
company performance. The primary objective is to explore how an optimized domestic
vessel chartering process, particularly through the use of time and voyage charter systems,
can improve cargo delivery efficiency and company competitiveness. Using a qualitative
methodology, data were collected through observation, documentation, and case studies
that directly understand maritime operations. The findings reveal a strong correlation
between optimized charter management and improved operational performance,
assessing key indicators such as efficiency, scheduling flexibility, vessel fleet utilization,
and excellent human resource support. Resource optimization emerged as a critical driver.
The study concludes with practical recommendations to strengthen management systems
and promote sustainable charter business practices in the maritime industry. These
insights contribute to economic development in the maritime industry, corporate
management, and human resource performance.
