dc.description.abstract Julian, Dikri. 2025. " Development of a Vibration and Temperature Monitoring System for Electro Motor Fault Detection on the MV. Pan Imperial " Electric motors are essential components in ship engine systems, responsible for driving cooling pumps and various auxiliary equipment. Onboard the MV. Pan Imperial, issues such as increased temperature and abnormal vibration in electric motors have been observed due to a lack of regular monitoring. These conditions pose a significant risk of equipment failure and reduced operational efficiency. This study aims to design and develop a vibration and temperature monitoring system based on the Arduino Uno microcontroller as a preventive solution to detect early signs of motor malfunction. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) method using a prototype development model. The system integrates a piezoelectric sensor for vibration detection, a DS18B20 digital temperature sensor, and a 16x2 I2C LCD to display real-time data. A buzzer acts as an alarm indicator when values exceed predefined safety thresholds. Validation was conducted by a marine engineering expert and 20 cadets from the marine engineering department who had completed onboard training. Validation results show a feasibility score of 92% from the expert and 92.8% from users, both categorized as "Highly Appropriate." These findings demonstrate that the developed monitoring system is functional, user-friendly, and suitable for real-time application in ship environments. It is expected to enhance maintenance efficiency, reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns, and prolong the operational life of shipboard electric motor components. en_US
