dc.description.abstract Loading and unloading is the process of moving cargo from one mode of transportation, either from land to sea or vice versa. This study aims to overcome every problem that arises related to loading and unloading has a major impact on cost components, and the costs incurred are greatly influenced by the speed of loading and unloading. Increasing the speed of loading and unloading will lead to a decrease in costs in each component. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques through case studies and documentation. The results of the study show that Inconsistency of stowage plan during container loading process is one of the main problems often faced in ship loading and unloading operations, potentially causing loaded containers to have to be unloaded again because they do not comply with the predetermined placement plan. In addition, the lack of effective communication in loading and unloading activities is one of the main factors that hinders the smooth operation of ships. As a form of mitigation, the ship's side, are advised to hold more frequent meetings or routine gatherings with the entire ship's crew, and before the loading and unloading process begins, it is suggested that the ship's side and the land side hold a coordination meeting together en_US
